Junior Surf Fit. LONDON
COMING SPRING 2027
Confidence on the board. Skills for the water.
Junior Surf Fit is coming to Sea Lanes Canary Wharf in spring 2027, training in the open dock water. Same coaching, same setting, created specifically for kids and teenagers who want to get into the water, learn new skills and build confidence.
Based in the open dock water at Eden Dock, sessions use soft surfboards to develop balance, coordination, movement and confidence on the water. Whether your child has never been on a board before or already enjoys surfing, sessions are designed to help them become more comfortable, capable and confident.
What to expect
Sessions are active, varied and fun, with coaching adapted to the age and ability of each group.
Children will develop:
Board confidence – becoming comfortable moving, balancing and playing on a board
Balance and coordination – developing control, stability and body awareness
Paddling skills – learning how to move efficiently and confidently on a board
Board control – turning, changing position and responding to movement in the water
Surf skills – learning pop-ups, positioning and the fundamentals of surfing
Strength and fitness – building physical confidence through movement and exercise
Water confidence – becoming more comfortable and capable in an open-water environment
The emphasis is on learning through movement, trying new things and having fun, while gradually building skills and confidence from session to session.
GROUPS FOR DIFFERENT ABILITIES
We know that every child is different. Some may be completely new to boards, while others may already be confident surfers.
Sessions will therefore be organised into small groups according to age, experience and confidence on a board, so children can learn alongside others at a similar level.
Who it's for
Junior Surf Fit is for children and teenagers who can swim 50m without assistance and want to become more confident, active and capable on a board. You don't need to be a surfer.
Your child might be:
Completely new to surfing and board sports
Nervous or inexperienced on a board
Looking for a fun way to build confidence and fitness
Already comfortable on a surfboard and wanting to improve
Interested in surfing but not yet ready to take on waves
As their skills and confidence develop, children can progress towards more advanced board skills and eventually surfing in the sea.
More than a one-off session
Junior Surf Fit is designed as a regular programme rather than a one-off taster.
Children will get to know their coaches, become familiar with the environment and build their skills progressively over time. The aim is to develop genuine confidence and competence on a board, while creating a positive relationship with the water.
The venue
Sessions take place at Sea Lanes Canary Wharf, in the open dock water at Eden Dock, right in the heart of Canary Wharf.
Changing rooms, showers, food and drink are all available on site.
Eden Dock is fed by naturally filtered groundwater and holds an Excellent water quality rating under EU bathing water standards. For full water quality results, visit the Sea Lanes Canary Wharf water quality page.
